I checked the main sail and noticed some small tears in it which I will have to sew up. The jib sail doesn't have any tears or holes in it that I can see so that may be ok. Both sails, the blue sail cover, the sail bag and ropes called sheets will have to be thoroughly washed and cleaned.
While I work on the sails I will take the boat out onto the water at the Fremont State Lakes to make sure she won't sink to the bottom! I should have done this before I bought the boat but the previous owner was a small business owner and understandably didn't have the time. I checked the bilge pump and it looks like I may have to replace that and buy a new deep cell marine battery to power the electronics.

Project Starwind - The Beginning
I finally purchased a sailboat! She is a 1985 Starwind 223 that comes with a dual axel trailer and only cost me $500! She needs a lot of work though so it will be a great learning experience and an opportunity to put the skills I have acquired through the years to a real test. As far as I can tell the sails will need to be sewed and cleaned, the interior woodwork was decayed so the galley and the benches will need replaced.
